100 facts about me ~ the first 50

Evidently, there is an obligatory blog for every blogger to do...so, I've been told...and here is mine. I've put it off long enough...depending on what goes on over the next hour or so, I may have to turn this into a few posts, but...here goes. Hope you learn something new :)

1. I love lists. I love lists of any kind. I'm "that girl" that always replies to the "Getting to Know Your Friend" emails and I make to do lists that consist of things I've already done so I can mark them off and feel accomplished.

2. There is nothing that feels more clean and free than a brand new calendar/planner. I despise any type of scribbling in my planner. Frankly, it makes me twitch, and I've been known to purchase a brand new planner because of too many scribbles. My friend Monica won't let me look at her planner in fear that I will have a stroke because her daughter drew on the front page. Horror. That would've been a stat trip to Barnes & Noble for me.

3. I got saved at age 7 at my parents' house in the living room on the most hideous couch ever. I read a book called "Good News America, God Loves You". A girl named Jana was babysitting me that day. I don't remember if I told her, but I told my parents that night. When I made my public profession, I was at Loveless Park Baptist Church and had on a mauve jumper with a off white blouse. I was baptized the next week by Bro. Thorpe and had on a white and blue striped dress from Sears. ;)

4. I love, love, love to travel and wish that I had the money to do it freely. I have been to Austria, Hungary, London, the Bahamas, Lake Tahoe (x2), Las Vegas, Tahiti, Moorea, Paris, and Normandy (x2).

5. I have swam with dolphins...and have a pic to prove it!

6. My parents still live in the house in which I was born. I heart stability & would be fine with that for my own life, but I married a nomad!

7. I still look at my husband with the same look of love that I've had for him for 12 years. He is my very best friend and my favorite person to hang with :)

8. I had a primary elective cesarean section. Yeah, it's out there...I didn't labor and I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I joke on others for it, but let's be honest, she was 8# 4oz. She wouldn't have made it out "that way" anyway!

9. In 1993, I fell off of a cheerleading pyramid & hit my head & had a concussion. It bought me an overnight in the hospital & a week or so on the couch. I remember watching Bill Clinton being Inaugurated through drowsiness.

10. I don't mind vomiting. Wierd, huh? I think it makes you feel better. My one stipulation is that I must vomit IN SOMETHING...a bag, a potty, anything. Thanks Dad for stopping on the side of the road during the above event in 1993 and retrieving a random sack off the side of the interstate for my vomiting pleasure.

11. When I went to nursing school, I told my bff (who went to nursing school to be an l&d nurse) that I would NEVER EVER do anything that had to do with pregnant women or babies....I wanted to do oncology. Turned out, I fell in love with l&d instantly & she hated it & is now a neuro intensive care nurse.

12. I skipped Kindergarten.

13. I think that Burts Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm is heaven sent

14. I slept with a night light until I was way too old...and one night I just decided that it was getting on my nerves and turned it off.

15. I once had live crawfish sent to my husband for valentines day when we were dating so he could broil them cajun style because it's one of his favorite things.

16. When I was in junior high & first learned to do a standing back tuck, I did one every single day for almost a year to make sure that I wouldn't "forget" how to do it. Ha ha.

17. I don't like to wear shoes. If you ever are sitting anywhere with me, especially in a restaurant, and it's at all possible, I will have slipped my shoes off and will probably be sitting indian style or some other inappropriate way.

18. I can still do the splits :)

19. I hate to sleep in socks. They make my feet feel funny under the covers. It doesn't matter how cold it is outside, I won't have socks on in the bed! My husband hates this & says that I use him for his heat.

20. Some of my most awesome growing up memories are from Choir Tour. We used to go to churches all over the southeast for a week singing. It was major production, with choreography, lights, acting, etc....and yes, I sang solos.

21. Um, yeah, I can sing...but the fear of being judged by those listening outweighs any talent that I may have.

22. When I was dating my now-husband, we had a long distance relationship and drove to see one another EVERY single weekend :)

23. Our first dance at our wedding was to "At Last" by Etta James for the very reason stated above.

24. The guy who was in charge of our catering for our wedding had been in the slammer. I bet that's where he learned to cook. Bwahahahahahaha!!! We so didn't know this until after the wedding had gone on without a hitch. Hilarious. I could care less, the food was the bomb and maybe we helped him get back on his feet.

25. One time, when I was going to UA and living in Tuscaloosa, we were lounging by the pool at our apartment, and these guys came by and asked us to be in their rap video and dance in swimsuits in front of the airplanes and helicopters at University Mall. Ha Ha! Y'all know that was a big negatory!!

26. I have bungee jumped

27. I used to read my Dad's EMT books and the medical encyclopedia when I was growing up.

28. My Dad had a better toe touch then half the cheerleaders that I knew in high school!

29. My heelstretch at the age of 32 is better than 3/4 of the cheerleaders now! Woot!

30. I'm creative and would love to paint canvases and do cards, invitations, and help with party planning for people, but I am not business minded in the least bit and have no idea where to begin. So, I just sit and think about it....and that makes me sad.

31. I love microphones - I play with W's pretend microphones much more than I would like to admit, especially when left alone.

32. I have a lot of good intentions, but they are hampered by what someone might think of me.

33. I love that I have a daughter :)

34. I am way too sentimental & have problems throwing things away. There's a slight possibility that I could be a hoarder if left unattended and unchecked.

35. I enjoy starting IVs & think I'm pretty good at it!

36. I've taken 4 1/2 years of spanish and can barely say hello and ask someone if they are hurting. Pathetic. I totally should fix that.

37. Psychology was a dumb major...but I am so proud to have a degree from and have had attended UA, that I don't really care about the bad choice of major. Life came full circle anyway!

38. My all time favorite TV show is "The Wonder Years". The music is stinkin' awesome, too.

39. I could eat pasta every single day of my life, unless it has alfredo on it. Alfredo is gross.
My husband isn't a pasta dude :(

40. I love storms....especially ones that make the weathermen have to stream live!

41. I don't think that you can ever have too many pajamas, scrubs, and workout clothes.

42. Sometimes, I'll put on workout clothes and no makeup and go to Target and to run errands so I will look like I've worked out that day. It's all a farce to cover my laziness of not wanting to truly get ready.

43. I have a little hippy living inside of me :) I'm a lot of things rolled into one...I'm a conservative Southern Christian who believes in guns and hates abortion. I love green, used to be a vegetarian, like hemp lotion, and is all for animal rights. I did have a grateful dead bear on my car in college...

44. I love Aveda, Kiehls, and Bobbi Brown.

45. I will drink a Diet Coke in any shape, form, or fashion. I will drink it hot, cold, new, or old. I'm a bit of a junkie. I have had a 6 pack a day habit in the past. Now I'm around 3-4ish...

46. I want to be one of those people who makes notes and underlines things in their Bibles. I want for W to have my copy when she gets older so she can see what I studied and looked at. I can't bring myself to write in the sacred Book though....I just feel wrong.

47. I am extremely tender and get my feelings hurt very easily. If you say something that hurts me, I will remember it verbatim and will play it in my mind like a broken record.

48. My Mom is my favorite shopping partner.

49. I am a texture person with food. I dislike coconut because it feels gross in your mouth....same goes for tapioca pudding, cottage cheese, cucumbers, and oranges/orange juice.

50. My ipod is dorky. I have praise music, bluegrass, southern rock, hip hop, country, rock, folk, etc. I'm so eclectic :) I have a mix for when I want to cry, too. Crazy, huh?

Stay tuned....50 more exciting facts to come soon :)
