my kindle is owning me right now...

I love to read. A whole lot. I was that kid who could read a whole Babysitter's Club book in just a few hours...even the long "special" ones. I woke up with a book under my nose, and much to my parent's dismay, I got ready in the mornings while reading a book, I read going down the road (still do), I read and watched tv at the same time, I read until I just couldn't hold my eyes open anymore...and then I read some more. I can't even begin to count the times that I have read each of the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume's books - especially "Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself" - I actually really want to re-read that one as an adult. It was set during WWII...and you know how much I heart that! I used to write stories - a whole lot. My parents could step in here and humiliate me pretty badly. Ha ha. Whatever..."Casey the Caterpillar" got quasi-published at the Young Author's Workshop. Boom. You know you wanna read it!

Over the years, I've gone through cycles of reading. You know, I've done school several times. It really hinders leisure reading. But, I'm back in the game right now. Full force. I will admit a bit of hesitancy to purchasing a Kindle. I am a purist. I enjoy feeling the weight of the book in my hands, the sound of the pages turning, visibly seeing how many pages that I have left, smelling the pages (weird-o), and finally (yes) sneaking ahead to the end to read 'just one paragraph'. But, I typically packed 3-5 books with me when I went anywhere and it was taking up precious cargo space....especially now that I have a whole 'nother person for whom to pack. So, I got a Kindle. It started out slow...a book here and there, but right about now, I'm full throttle. I finished my latest book in just under 4 hours...If you don't count sleep time. It was good. I feel accomplished. I need more! More! More! ...so, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm up for 'em. And, I'm not sure of Kindle etiquette - do I download more than one at a time? Am I like a Kindle book hoarder if I download too many? I'm a little embarrassed of my choices sometimes. I feel like if it's a cheapo paperback, I can just toss it & no one notices my pathetic selections of literature...but with a Kindle, it's there for posterity. Hmm. I'm gonna go surf Amazon right now and pick out some fun new titles! Eeek! :) Actually, I'm gonna take a nap first, because I stayed up until 0100 reading :)
