hey...gimme some of that time...

So, I've recently realized that some people must have more time on their hands than I do. Perhaps God has granted them with a 26 or 27 hour day, or maybe a child that will nap alone, I'm not sure. But, have you ever just looked around and noted the dumb things that people complain about? I've been noticing recently, and I'm gonna share two stupid examples that I've found.

Okay - my daughter watches this show on Nick Jr. called "The Fresh Beat Band". It's about this group of friends that have formed a band and they sing and dance and are so cheesy that I get constipated just watching it. Nevertheless, she loves it. There are 4 main characters: Twist, Shout, Kiki, and Marina. Marina is this really pretty redhead and we've been watching this since 2009. So, commercials (and an awesome music video) have come out for the 2011 season and (gasp) they have re-cast Marina with a different redheaded girl. You know how some shows do, they just re-cast a character and never mention it (like all viewers are idiots and will NEVER notice). Even my 3 year old noticed. Ha ha. Well, I am a researcher by nature (read: nosy), so I hit up Google to figure out where the old Marina went. I ended up on these forums (where I did find out that the original Marina is 28 years old and is leaving because she got married and wants to pursue other - more mature - ventures), but I found pages upon pages of these adults who are stone cold pissed off that the original Marina is gone. Seriously?! These people are writing on this page saying that this 'awful to do to our children. How do we explain the absence of the old Marina?' and that 'the new Marina sucks' and 'Nick Jr. shouldn't have created a new Marina' and 'Nick Jr. should have warned us'. Really? Really? Marina has caused that much of a stink in your life that you are posting mean messages about how the new one is uglier and her hair isn't the same shade of red? Just wow.

Secondly, I love love love Matilda Jane clothing - for kids and adults :) I am a 'fan' of the Matilda Jane page on Facebook and can see when someone writes on their wall. So, this week, the ladies at Matilda Jane made a post to request that individuals not advertise their personal Matilda Jane parties on the Matilda Jane page. Woah. That started a cascade of rudeness in which tons of people started 'getting on to' the ladies of Matilda Jane saying that they were 'biting the hand that feeds them' and that they 'had gotten too big for their britches'. The whole page is filled with complaints: 'shipping is too much', 'your website sucks', 'my shopping cart kicked my purchases out', 'you need more bandwith', you don't make enough of my size', 'you didn't post any pants in size 2 & 8 and I need my kids to match'. Gah. Wah Wah. Hush.

Yeah, I have complaints too. Sure, we all do. But, honestly...just look around you. People are being persecuted for loving God, people are starving, people are missing, people and animals are being abused, babies are dying. Big stuff. Get over yourself and channel those blessed extra hours that you seem to have into something that matters. Boom.

...okay, that said, I do miss the original Marina and I do wish that Matilda Jane's shopping was easier. Whatever. I'll get over it. And, I'll channel my time into Bama Football and my addiction to Pinterest, Facebook, and Toms shoes. So, I guess that I'm the pot calling the kettle black!
