weekend update (like on snl)

okay, so maybe it's not quite like on snl, but it was a pretty awesome weekend, filled with moments of hilarity...just like I like it!

Jimmy & I had a "romantic" (read: child-free) weekend. Our 8th wedding anniversary is on Tuesday the 23rd, so we celebrated a little early. Since we are about to have 2house payments again (a pathetic shout out to all buyers in the market), we found it necessary to not take a really cool trip, but to just stay home. W stayed with Lovie & Poppy on Friday & Saturday night. Poor guys, I think that they just wanted to go home and sit in utter silence for the rest of the day after we picked her up. If you know my child, you know she's a talker to say the least. Anyhoo...on to the hilarity. Jimmy made reservations at 801 Franklin, which is downtown & pretty upscale. So, here we are, all dressed up, eating rich people food (and to-die-for dessert). Well...once the meal is over & we are about to leave, I take a final drink of my water, and just about the time that my mouth is completely full of water - picture puffed out cheeks - Jimmy decides to get up & leave the table. What he didn't notice is that somehow the tablecloth has become attached to his pants. From my vantage point, all I see is a white tablecloth moving toward the end of the table, a candle, a vase, a rose, & several dishes making their way to becoming the inevitable heap on the floor. Keep in mind, my cheeks are full of water, so I can't say anything to warn him. It's so like a train wreck! I did what any other person would do, I started making this "hmm hmm HMM HMM" noise as loudly as I could (which Jimmy likened to the sound that Dubya makes when he needs to go outside & potty). Praise God that Jimmy then noticed the almost-debauchle & sat down as quickly as he could. Once I swallowed my water, I began laughing uncontrollably at the thought of Jimmy pulling the tablecloth magic trick at stinking 801 Franklin. I laughed so hard that I thought I was going to break a rib. Funny stuff. Then he took me to see Valentine's Day - an ultimate Chick Flick. He even admitted that it was a cute movie. Not sure that he said "cute". Okay, so I know he didn't. I think he said it was "good for a chick flick".

Other fun weekend occurrences...we went hiking. I know that no one believes it. I do have a pic on my iphone to prove that it happened. I am notorious for making itineraries for people when we go on trips. OC much? Yeah, whatev...you know you love me. So, my itinerary for the weekend began with a "couples run" in the neighborhood. Jimmy bucked the itinerary & decided on a hike with Dubya instead. Dare I say that I enjoyed it? We hiked the land trust up Monte Sano. Dubya had a blast. We even let him off of his leash :) Of course, I did have my cell phone in hand & did do some texting while hiking...maybe that defeats the purpose of hiking...I don't know hiking etiquette. We did a little trail running, which was neat. Oh, and I got a small sunburn. Probably bc I ignore the sun usually & it actually hit my body for 2 hours. I'm a little freaked bc I am a skin-cancer prevention Nazi. Secondly, Kayse & I got a pedi. I'm gonna take this time to denounce Summit Nail over by Target on 72. That'll teach 'em to give a crappy pedicure to a blogger. Boo-ya. Whack-est leg & foot massage ever. It lasted about a minute on each side - if that. No real massage, just a small, light rub. AND, my heels still feel disgusting. She rubbed this brush thing on the tops of our feet & it seriously felt like she drug a cat-o-nine tails across the top. Ouch. Kayse's chick left all kinda wadded up paper towels between her toes. It was terrible. We laughed pretty hard about how pathetic it was. This mommy-on-the-loose was hoping for some major rubbing & relaxation. Not so much. But, my toes are a sweet limey green for St. Patty's day :)

Final hilarity of the weekend...W has been saying that "mommy & daddy took a bath together". I know what you're thinking, 'big whoop, you're married, float it up in the tub if you want to'. Sure thing...but we really didn't! W is obsessed with baths right now. She does like taking one with me. She has dubbed me the "big goldfish" & herself the "little goldfish". I'm gonna go with it - it's better than Mommy being the Orca Whale...right? So, I've deduced that she thought since she wasn't at home taking a bath with me, that surely Da Da was. She kept repeating it over & over & asking us if we took a bath together. So, I sorely apologize to the good people at my parents' church who now think that Mommy & Daddy took a bath together last night, bc I'm sure that my tiny chatterbox told them all about our nonexistant bath.

Great, gorgeous, beautiful weekend. Thoughts are on God, my family, my anniversary, & my to-do list this week. I am working on some fun stuff for the blog if I can get my handy hubby to blow the dust off of the scanner for me. More to come...

Peace out, my friends :)
