Becoming a blogger, a quick trip south, & my take on running

I totally got Jimmy to get my font fixed on my header! Woot! I knew that he couldn't resist those letters "html". The Hall family (along with Dubya the wonder lab) had a quick visit to Lovie & Poppy's house this weekend - lotsa rest - too much food. We went to my childhood church & heard an awesome sermon on Heaven...anyone who makes the quote that our kids will be able to "throw a pass to Jesus" if they want to, is my kinda preacher! Ha ha ha! Check out the series, if you're so inclined: www.mygracelife.com - I'm gonna check it out. All the hype in B-ham was the Marathoners. I'm so jealous of them. Jealous in a wierd way. I would love to run the half - crap, I would love to run a 5k. But, I hate to run. I'm working on loving it, but I can't get past 2.5 miles (on a treadmill, mind you, bc I hate outside - yeah, I said it - I'm the only person who makes the statement aloud that "I hate Summer")...but I digress. It's not even because my body makes me stop...my mind makes me stop. Minds are powerful. Anyone have any tips? AND, an ipod is a MUST - music is always a must for any activity :) Maybe it's the elusive "runners high" that I want to see if it really exists? Or, if I don't REALLY like it, then what's my deal with the obsession? Hmm..

K. Thanks for reading the rambles. Work tomorrow. Oh...if anyone would like me to link their site or blog on mine, I totally will - because I now know how to do so & it makes me feel like a computer programmer.

Happy V-day :) Love, Love, Love :)

  1. Amy, I'll totally second you on HATING summer. I hate the heat and going outside UNLESS I am running. I will say I prefer running outside to the treadmill any day(as long as it isn't too cold either)! Ha! And as far as I know, there is definitely a runner's high b/c I have been on it for the past year:) It's fabulous~

  2. Look at me! I'm your first follower. As such, I must tell you the following: YES, you can run. If you can run 2.5 miles, then you can run a 5K, which means you can run a 10K, which means you can run a half-marathon . . . need I go on?

You are right. It is 99% psychological. Hmmm . . . let's see . . . you have the psychological stamina to (1) be a mom (2) be a nurse (3) be a nice person even when others are not (4) be a lifeguard who retrieves fetuses from 8 minute decelerations (5) be an athlete who runs 2.5 miles on a dreadmill. Verdict? You can run a 5K tomorrow if you choose to do it.

Take it from a former fat girl . . . coming to work in L&D every days takes more toughness than running 26.2. You CAN be a runner.
