Fun, huh? Of course, gut instinct says the 60s, right?!? The history, the crazy season of change right before your eyes, the music, the clothes, the patchouli!!! Aaaahhhhmmmaaaazing!!!! It's gotta be the 60s!!
Not so fast....the 20s had flappers & radio started getting crunk. That would've been cool to be around. What about 1770s?!? Real stuff was going down then - talk about history before your eyes!! The 30s...I know it was bad, right, but it just might've been neat to learn to live off the land and struggle a little bit. The 40s...considering that I'm a ww2 history freak, this decade would be up there for me. Plus, I feel like the whole US was on one page and pumped up with love for the country and it's soldiers. Women started stepping up more because the dudes were fighting. But there's the 50s and there is the Cold War getting fired up, communism, Elvis, poodle skirts, & malt shops. How about the 70s? That's another one that I mugt would pick...I only was there for the last 2 years of it...and, let's face it, you aren't quite up to date on the social/economical aspects when you're 2. Plus, the fashion rocked. Ha ha. The scandals, the fabulous music...I could go on.
So, what is yours?! What would you pick? Would you totally go waaaay old school and want to be there during Jesus' life on Earth? Would you want to come over on the Mayflower? Would you want to protest 'Nam? Dance on Solid Gold? Watch on live tv where a man walked on the moon? Storm the beaches of Normandy? Hear MLK's speech as it happened? Hear Hitler speak? What would it be for ya?
This has sparked so much fun conversation in our home. I even asked my Dad, who has lived through some pretty cool, life changing times. His perspective was different from our late 70s born perspective. Cool stuff. I would love to hear from you about where you would like to be and why. Hit up my FB and reply!
