Eggs and Music

Hi friends! Two odd topics...totally different, but hey - it's what's on my mind tonight! Wanted to share a couple of pics from the Easter Egg Hunt last Saturday that I posted about last week. W had a blast!!! Last year, we were late & poor baby only got 1 egg, so this year we were 15min early & were "those parents" pushing our child to the front of the pack to get the most eggs. Nothing less than the best for our child ;) ha ha....Hopefully no one noticed that Jimmy held W & sprinted ahead of about 20 0-4 year olds to get the most eggs. We have no competitive spirit, really. Anyhoo - big thanks to the Jackson Way peeps that put in so much time to set up the Egg Hunt....we brought a brood with us: Poppy, Lovie, Mama Trish, Poppa, Papa Ricky, Gma Mary, Aunt TT & Baby T. Woot. We roll with an entourage :) I'll post some pics....when I get enough energy to upload them. Pitful, huh.

Music is one of my favorite things in the world. It can allow memories to rush back to your mind like nothing else on Earth. It can take you to another time & place with just one note. I promise that I can even smell the smell of a place if I hear a song that reminds me of a certain place or time. Nothing can help you bring out your emotions like music....I listen when I'm sad - you know you have "those songs" that you put on repeat...um, "Bad Day" acapella?? You know who you are!! :) Best Quote Ever: "Cause, not only has he had a bad day, but he's lost his instruments, too". Wow. I'm not gonna call the quoter out on this semi-public forum! Brilliance...but I digress....I listen when I'm happy, I listen when I run/work out, I listen before bed, I straight up put on a concert in the car, I listen when I want to escape, I listen when I want to praise the Lord, I listen when I'm angry - you know you got those songs too!!! Love music. My point being, that Jimmy has a deep love for it as well, & we are instilling these things in W too! She LOVES to sing - her tiny voice makes me burst with pride & joy - she loves to listen...she has her favorites, which include adult classics such as "At Last" by Etta James, "Stand by Me", "What a Wonderful World", kids classics such as "Mary Had a Little Lamb", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", and "Itsy Bitsy Spider", plus she can appreciate a little hip-hop....she loves Nelly. Ha ha :) I tell you guys this bc a) it makes me proud and b) it's just so darn cute. So, our bathtime, booktime, bedtime routine has been a little tweaked r/t this love of music. Our routine is now: bathtime, music time/dance time, booktime, bedtime. W can't go to bed without at least 20 minutes of dancing with Dada & Mommy (& Bubba) to her jams. Sweet memories - those songs will ALWAYS take us back to these special times with our little :)

Maybe one day I'll take pics of this ritual, but for now, I want to hold it close to my heart.

Night night....gotta do booktime & bedtime...then listen to some tunes myself!

  1. We dance almost every day too, Aims! Michael Jackson, INXS, U2 and Elton John are our favs. I began dancing in the living room with Larkin as soon as I brought her home. Now she'll come and grab my hand and say "Dance with me, Momma!".
